Rivers Edge Wilderness Camping is a grassy retreat beside the lovely Russell River in Lonnavale, 30 mins from Huonvile.
Relax at one of our 49 tranquil campsites on or near the banks of the river, lined with trees and easy access to the water. These sites are all very large and will accommodate from three tents up to eight vans, plenty of space for a bit of privacy on your own or to sit around a fire pot with your mates.
The river's pools are perfect for a swim in summer and offer great fishing spots for trout and blackfish. Also if you are quiet, you will see a wild platypus.
The surrounding mature white gum forest is a home to abundant birdlife and the valley hosts a pair of wedged tail eagles and a pair of sea eagles who are often seen souring high above the campground.
The grounds are flat for easy access with plenty of public open space for the kids to kick a football while you relax in the lounge chairs in the communal shelter or around the provided fire pots on each site.
