Stick to the timing told to customers. We booked a return trip from Melbourne to Williamstown. Upon departing the boat in Williamstown at 11.30 we asked the captain about the time of the return trip and were told 2.30. The ferry arrived for the return trip at 4.00. A wasted 1.5 hours of our lives sitting on a ferry pier. Otherwise the experience was enjoyable with an excellent commentary on the outbound leg and obliging crew members.

Its a pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Leaves from South Bank, opposite Flinder st Station. There is commintary on board, with points of interest about Melbournes Yarra River, the docks and the now swanky places to eat and stay , as you head out to the mouth of river towards Port Phillip Bay and over to Williamstown. Approx one hour each way. We rode the 1245pm to Willy, and the 1545hrs back to Melbourne. 2 hrs in Williamstown, for a short stroll along the water front and shops and then a delicious lunch. The Ferry itself, is a smoothe ride, however it is rather basic, seating like old plastic school chairs. Wasnt a lot of outdoor seating, approx 12-15 at back of vessel, which in warmer months i would think could get crowded. The Ferry, looks a little tired, inside. However we didnt much mind any of that. Having survived Lockdown Melbourne...5 times..we were just happy to see an old favourite we use to take the kids on , many years ago. 3 high steps down into ferry, if your mobility isnt great, there is railing though. I think very reasonably priced, $37 pp Adult. (Return) . Theres lots of bird life and activity along the river. Its slow of pace , relaxing and a much more pleasent way to get to Willy, than the god awful Westgate or the train. If your after a day trip, this is a great option. Kid friendly. And goodness knows our Melbourne Tourism needs all the love they can get . It can be chilly on the river, bring a jacket. Free Coffee and tea, its instant, but really, what do you get for free...!Check the website for concession fares, family ticks etc. So if your wandering along southbank Boulavard without a purpose, hop on the ferry to Williamstown, and enjoy the sights. Thankyou Melbourne River Cruisers...from the Locals !

Took this trip for something different to do in Melbourne. Nice to rock up to southbank and have a drink in one of the surrounding bars before the tour. The Captain's commentary was really interesting and informative about the Yarra and docklands areas history, geography and structures. Although the weather wasn't great it was very appropriate for the industrial structures and ships and boats we passed. Williamstown was nice and the sailing docks too. Nice restaurants. 2 hrs not enough time there for us as we also had lunch

As we were the only passengers to book and pay .and we were the first to the ticket kiosk at end of trip .because the person accepting payment did not know that his own company used pay pal he did not belive I had paid so l had to wait for all the other people who had not had the foresight to book to pay for there trip .just not good enough. Williamstown was once Victoria's principle port but now it's a bayside suburb. . The cruise down the Yarra River and across Port Phillip Bay is an entertaining way of seeing Melourne close up. It's worth spending some time looking around Williamstown, it has some of the best gelato in Victoria. The Bay is normally calm, you are unlikely to get sea-sick
